Form Follows Function

Arnold got it. Do you get It?

To get an edge

on his bodybuilding competitors (despite already being the best in the world at the time) Arnold took up ballet in the mid-70s...

He believed that presenting his world-class physique in a more elegant, artistic way would heighten the drama and spectacle of his posing routines and leave the judges completely floored.  It worked.

Arnold continued to not just win, but he also garnered the attention of movie producers, who thought his unique combination of muscle, good looks, and DRAMATIC POSING could make him a star.

We all know how that went.

Later on, Arnold would recount for various fitness magazines how ballet improved not just his posing, but his overall joint health and longevity.

This is THE major concept uniting multiple movement systems, from ballet to bodybuilding to MonkeyDo:

"Form Follows Function"

True fitness, in the classic sense, is the ability to express strength through a full range of motion.

In other words, you're only fit if you can move well, for that is the body's basic function...to move.

This is why our programs test and track ACTIVE range of motion from start to finish.

IF you are expressing strength through more range, THEN your joints are, by definition, more functional.

More functional joints are less painful joints.

Less painful joints can produce joyful, expressive movement.

Expressive movement makes life worth living.
